My Facination with Lenny started when i saw him in Lock Stock and Two Smoking barrels.
I’ve done some research on him and find him a facinating character, there’s some material on you tube that is very good, in some of his fights he was absolutely devastating, i’m sure he was a very respected man.
I’m just about to read his biography and going by some of the comments on this web site looks to be a enjoyable read.
I did read that a film was going to be made about Lennys life and that the finances that were put into the project were taken by a con man, i can only think this man must have been either very silly or very brave, however if there is a film company out there with any sense i think that they should jump at the chance to make a film about Lenny as i think it would be a facinating story. Can anybody tell me if there are any plans for this to still happen.
Im nearly finished the ‘guvnur’ and its a great read. Lenny was unique, and he had a hard life. I just wouldnt want to get in his bad books!For film companies, what a great story to tell. It would be a box office smash hit. It has all the elements that would have people glued to it. Who would play the lead?? Is there anyone big enough, or with a big enough personality!

Hi just read the book the guv`nor through the eyes of others .and i thought it was brilliant,i have also read the biopic the GUV`NOR which was also brilliant. I still cant believe no one as turned his life story into a movie yet because it would become a classic, instead of making rubbish like that film CHARLIE with that poof from bros,When a real story is crying out to be made . So come on you film producers out there and get it made. Because this master piece is waiting..

Lenny seemed to be a great man one of your own, After reading his book I have a lot of respect for him he had a a lot of problems growing up and I belive that made him the man he was.

Todays society should take a right good look at itself and try & install lenny’s values and morals. At the end of the day It all comes down to respect and looking after your own. This is disappearing day by day in towns and cities all over the U.K. Along with losing face and drugs, its cowards tryin to hide behind their crew - while they excercise what they feel is the right ‘punishment’ just to get a more gangster image or name - thats at the core of this problem.

i think lenny mclean or should i say the guvner is an amazing individual person who is considerate to people who respect him. i have read his book and i am facinated by his life story. i was very interested in the book and it actualy got me emotional at the beggining when he talks about how he was abused by his evil stepdad.i think that he is an excelant acter in lostock and two smoking barrells.and from what i have read he sounds like a very hard man. there is no 1 that could ever do a better job at being the guvner more than you.

after reading some of the messages on this site about no one has respect any more should if they can visit bethnal green. or the locals call it “the green” their is a pub their called the marquis of cornwallis on the corner of vallance and bethnall green road.

I don’t think people really new the real Lenny Mclean. He definately was a hard man no question, but he also had an heart of gold & was a good family man. This is my perception of him after reading his book . I know that there are people out there who knew him very well & know a lot more about him than ordinary people like me, but this is how he comes over. He definately was a force to be reckoned with & if ever a film is made of his life I don’t know who will be suitable to portray him.

ive just finished reading lenny’s book the Guvner and i think its great the way he describes everything even though he doesnt go into to much detail. the best part of the book is definately all the fights he has the best temper i know anywhere in the world as one minute he can be snapping someones jaw in half and the next he could be cuddling his wife now someone who can do that is truley mental (but in a good way)
i truely hope the film about lennys life will be made very soon, any producer/director out there must be mad to pass the chance to do the film as the book alone was a massive hit and its great, so bye for now but ill be back soon.

lenny mclean was a true gentleman,with high morals. He never once backed down from a fight. For all those roy shaw fans who think he knocked out lenny, look at what joe pyle said who was roy shaws old manager. lenny lost the first fight on points because they gave him gloves which would not let him clench his fist.In the next two fights lenny destroys roy shaw on which they can be seen on youtube.though roy shaw is highly respected and also a man with high morals.who once ran through a prison door “impressive”.I agree a film should be made for both of them it would be better than the likes of 50 cent and such others.

sometime ago there was a bit of a rumor that stated there would be a movie about lenny,i.e his life story and that the actor would be vinnie jones any truth to this?i believe it would make a fantastic movie,because his auto biography was great.on a diffrent gear i am very sick and tired of the like of dave courtney and his wannabe gangster life trying to connect himself with lenny.truth be told lenny did not want to be seen with dave courtney,he had no respect for dave courtney.so dave courtney go away you blow hard with you nigger crack head wife who cant sing for shite.lenny rest in peace
I have just finished reading Lenny McLean’s autobiography, I was gripped from the first page, what an example of truly wonderful man, he had such dedication to his wife Val and their two children, he would help anybody he could who came across trouble they could not handle, but never resorted to weapons, used only his hands to sort any situation. I wish that a film about this remarkable fella would be produced because it was supposed to happen during his life but he was duped, as the life story tells you he was no longer thinking straight as illness gripped hold of him. Such a great shame that Lenny ended up with illness beating him after all life had thrown at him. Wonderful, remarkable, likeable man.
Big lenny was a gentleman and a scholar, I read his book the guvnor which i have to say is the NUTS,
READ IT NOW 5/6 TIMES, he was a true old skool Face who had them values that sadly people now a days couldn,t even dream of having! The courage strength and damn right sheer no fear attitude was in my eyes and the eyes of thousands truly brilliant. I WOULD OF LOVED to have met THE GUVNOR , MY OLD MAN did through his pal he is a great loss to LONDON, but his story shall live on hopefully in a film as well as his books. He deserves more recognition he is given. many times when it couldnt of got worse for me and the chips been down on many an occasion and i myself am a fighter I have looked to lenny as inspiration. GOD BLESS LENNY AND HIS FAMILY
The Guv’nor, what a fascinating man, i think you’d all agree. When i read the book i found myself putting myself in his shoes, and it put things into perspective how tough his life was. Very much family orientated and an extremely kind man, but taking liberty’s is not a good idea with lenny. RIP guv’nor, missed by many.

I heard about lenny through my Brother-in-law, who actually once lived around the corner from Lenny, he told me stories of this friendly giant, who would help any one out, but boy, if he got angry or upset by anyone, well that was their lot, shall we say.
From that day on, i have been totally addicted to Lenny in every way possible, read the book and just could not put it down, had so many fall outs with the wife over him.
My only regret, is that i would have loved to have just met him once, to shake his hand. i feel so sad that he is not here any more, There should be a tour of Lenny’s life and as everyone says a film also, it would definitely be abox office hit, how could it not.
LENNY,LIKE MANY OF YOUR FRIENDS AND FANS, I WILL MISS YOU AND YOUR WAYS TREMENDOUSLY… REST IN PEACE AND NO FIGHTING UP IN THE CLOUDS, MAY BE MEET YOU ONE DAY EH!!!!

Well what can i say about Lenny, the friendly beast shall we say. Cant say i know him like a fair few could say, but what i do know of him he is true gentleman and one tough tough man who many men would not want to piss off.
How on earth a film about his life has yet to be made even though we have seen rise of the footsoldier with that carlton and tucker yet Lenny hasnt had one made is beyond me, writers should be queing at the chance to get this underway. Hope to see one in the future, and all the best to Lennys family if they read this/

The problems me and site desighner lyn williams have had you wouldnt beleive.
back last year after ramming the website full of photos,posters ect, the site got hacked and someone wiped all of the stuff, this must have been about the third time in the last 9 years that i have been running the site.
iv been constantly keeping an eye on the comment’s which keep coming in regular
anyway iv been spending hours these past few weeks trying to get as many lenny photos off net, so the gallerys have started filling up again.
so keep checking back regular.
also back last year i received some good new off len’s wife val that lens daughter kelly had given birth to twin’s.
on a sad note, a few of you may already know this but i was emailed some news last week that len’s wife Val had passed away a few month’s ago.
i knew she had been ill and rung the house a few month’s ago, i was absolutley gutted when i received an email off big lenny fan michael claydon telling me she had passed in december.
i was gutted no one had told me has i would have liked to have payed my last respects.
dont get me wrong id never met val but we had some good long interesting funny phone calls when i was writing the book, she was one lady i would have like to have met, going by the phone calls i knew she missed lenny big time and now i beleive they are together again, rest in peace Val

i just saw my hero and i mean that with my whole heart …lenny mclean in lock stock and two barrels for the first time.i got the dvd from ebay.and im reading his book the guvnors tapes.i tell you it just breaks my heart that he had to go.ill never understand why.and now his beloved val.after reading the guvnor i feel like i knew him almost.i believe they both are in the peace and grace of the good Lord together again.
roy shaw and charles bronson both upset me very much running thier mouths about the Guvnor.the true Guvnor Lenny Mclean is gone and they disrespect him by running thier jaws on him.its despicable.

im reading his vals book today.just got it in the mail from amazon.its a great great book.oh the stories she tells about her Lenny.problem is my eyes keep getting real wet and its hard to read it.she really loved him.and he loved her.a special kind of love and partnership between two great people.may God bless thier children thier dear souls and memory always.
i have to say that YES lenny was the hardest man in england.not taking anything away frm pretty boy shaw coz he was a very hard man also.the only thing about shaw,that has been said before is the fact he ran his mouth after lennys untimely death.i have just finished reading a book called ‘FIGHT TO THE DEATH’ reguarding the fabulous Viv Graham and lee duffy,in the book it was said that lee duffy was set to fight Lenny but lenny declined.At the time lenny was getting on abit and duffy was a spring chicken,the author of the book commented that he,as well as alot of others thought that Lenny wouldnt stand a chance.Now i never knew duffy personally,but living in the north east heard quite alot about the lad.Lenny would of punished him severely!!!!!IViv was also s,posed to have requested a fight,how true this is im not sure.But i knew Viv personally and he was a great man and fighter,but still Lenny would have came out on top.He was a true hard man unlike what a ‘hard’ man is today.and a true gentleman.his reputation will live on eternal as well as his heart.
Im now reading Anthony Thomas’ excellent book “the Guvnor through the eyes of others”.its a great book.a must have for fans of the guvnor.
in there i read that charlie bronson said “Lenny Mclean… i can really only say good about the guy.i only ever met Lenny once but that was enough to have a lasting memory.he must have had the biggest fists on the planet….Lenny,to me, was a great man and he achieved so much in his life..i personally admired the guy.he had a nice way of life and knew how to conduct himself in any situation,whether in violence or just being polite.he was a proper family man.he was a sincere man.he said what he meant. he meant what he said.and that for me says it all.respect.”
i think that was a very classy and very honest thing for charles bronson to do.i shouldnt have called him a skunk.pretty boy roy shaw is another story altogether.im curious what he told kate kray in his second book about the guvnor and thier fights.more ginseng tea nonsense or God knows what.
as for charlie bronson i really hope that he gets out of prison and gets to breathe some fresh air and live a little soon.

I am Lenny`s Niece. Laura Wall. If have read the book the Guvnor, u`ll see the pic of Lenny with his cousin “Johnny Wall “both in Black suits and dickie bows, Johnny is my dad who sadly passed away to cancer like my uncle Len 4 month prior to him.
I was proud of both Lenny n my dad both were professional boxers.
Lenny was such a family man who is sadly missed in our family as is my dad..the freakiest thing of all is how 2 couins who were so close, and so dedicated to their familys and the pre-boxing carreers…passed away of the same diasese just four months apart in 1998.
Lenny gave me the expirence of working on set of Lock Stop & Londons Burning..as Lenny knew everyone!
Lenny and my dad were also both Door man together up Londons Hippodrome.

His story from being a child growing up in a tough niegbourhood to becoming a man with good morals has made me think in a different way about my own life. Just watching some old clips of lenny fighting last night. Why has this film not been made??? madness. I can’t beleive its been 10 years since his death! When will we ever see another man like Lenny? I gues never. the stories of him flying to the US and bashing f*ck out of them is great!
